Changes to iso 9001 is coming. Following are the key changes in CD copy of ISO 9001:2015:
What’s are new in ISO 9001:2015
- ISO 9001 and some other management system standards like 22301,(Social security – Business continuity management systems),20121(Event sustainability management systems),30301 (Information and documentation – Management systems for records), and some other management system standards are going to have unique and common structure
.
- Process approach idea has been emphasized. Specific requirements for adopting a process approach. idea has been recommended strongly
- Preventive action has been replaced with risk management process
- Two new clauses have been added to the draft standard. : a) 4.1 Understanding the organization and its context and b) 4.2 Understanding the needs and expectations of interested parties.
- 8 quality management principles have been changed into 7 principles
- Instead of only Product, product and service have been including in this draft standard
- Documents and Records have been combined into documented information
- Exclusion has been withdrawn
- Work environment (clause 6 of 2008) has changed into “Environment for the operation of processes”.
- Purchased product has been changed into “externally provided products and services”.
- The word “supplier” has been replaced with “External provider”.

World Accreditation Day 2014
will be celebrated in 9th June 2014. Before going to discuss significance of this day let’s know first what is accreditation.
What is Accreditation?
Accreditation is the formal recognition of competence of Certification Bodies or Testing institutes. There are many certification bodies and testing institutes around the world who are doing their works following international standards. Accreditation Body checks how the certification bodies or testing institutes are doing their jobs by following the international standard.
Accreditation body may be government or non government organization. ANAB is the USA based UKAS is the UK based government owned organization and AIAC is the non government based accreditation body. Government and non-government all types of accreditation bodies follow international standard to do their jobs. For iso accreditation bodies they follow 17011 standard. The standards for accreditation and certification bodies and for organizations are published by ISO(Geneva based organization).
Accreditation by Accreditation Board means that evaluators: testing and calibration laboratories, inspection and certification bodies have been assessed against internationally recognized standards to demonstrate their competence, impartiality and performance capability.

Documents control procedure is found in ISO 9001. Controlled documents is one of the requirements of ISO 9001 standard. According to the clause no 4.2.3 all documents must be controlled. Though there is no specific guideline to control your documents however most of the companies who are ISO 9001 Certified control their documents in the following ways:
- There will be approval in the documents
- Documents no, revision no, revision date will be written at the bottom or at the top of the page
- Review and update is necessary to re-approve documents
- Latest version of documents should be used at the point of use
- Documents must be legible and identifiable
- Control documents can be stamped by RED COLOR
- Uncontrolled documents can be stapled by GREEN COLOR
How documents controlled help a company?
The answer is to prevent unintended use of obsolete documents. Change is important for better management of your company. Suppose twenty years ago you used a form where there were no option of writing email address or your company web site address but now it is digital era. So, you should change your form by adding new items or content.
